Williams Lester said goodbye to David Lester with a surprise lunch at The Jetty restaurant, Christchurch. The last of our founding partners, David left McCarthy and Stone where he was chief architect to form Williams Lester with Walter Williams in 1987.
Speaking of his many years as Director, David reported that the highs points were the many awards the practice has won, trips abroad and the joy of driving around the local area and noting how much of the built environment has been shaped by Williams Lester. The lows were steering the practice through recession. David also pointed out that some of our clients have been with us throughout, notably Pennyfarthing.
On the future of the practice David stated:
“The name has always stood us in good stead. We go the extra mile. We are professionals and we are very professional in what we do. I would hope that the many strong relationships we have with clients will keep going and feel this time is the rebirth of the practice.”
